I am Number Four: The Lost Files: Six’s Legacy

10 Dec

ebook image from iamnumberfourfans.comI am Number Four: The Lost Files: Six’s Legacy is an anecdote of what Six experienced as she was growing up with her Cêpan, Katarina. In ways, it’s like I am Number Four but this one appears a lot simpler and direct to the point. The most critical part of the book was being spotted and captured by the Mogadorians – and managing to escape. Only available in e-book format, the book is a valuable “filler” in understanding the sarcastic female character “Jane” in the movie, I am Number Four.

What I love about this book is the perspective from which it was written. A female character sees things quite differently and the situation she was placed in explains how she has become so tough and focused with her goal – find the rest of the Gardes and start the war. Of course that’s an overstatement but it’s inevitable and based on initial implied comments at I am Number Four, that’s generally where it will go. I should know, I’ve read the Power of Six prior to reading this one.

What I don’t like about this book is “I can live without it.” This story was sort of narrated in the Power of Sis and there wasn’t much to it. I guess I was simply looking for more action, more Lorien history more guidance and wise notes from the Cepans – I am Number Four material. I guess my expectations are just too high and that’s why I got disappointed.

I couldn’t find a better embed than a free chapter, see this link.

After reading I am Number Four, I assumed that The Power of Six is going to be a book about Six – her story and how her powers were awakened. Even now, that I’ve finished the book, I still wonder why it is titled as The Power of Six.

I am Number Four

23 Aug

One of my beloved cousins explicitly told me how good the movie, “I am Number Four” was.  The movie made her want to buy the book.  It was the word “book” that caught my attention.  She described the movie as a romantic film meshed with Alien stuff, and left me to myself for reading and comment.

A few days later, a colleague told me that it wasn’t so bad and summed the movie into these: “It’s a love story.”  He knows I’m not a fan of romance films.  It didn’t deter me because the bookstores I’ve gone to has an “out of stock” note on the book.

When finally I found myself holding a copy, I knew I was soon going to write a review.

Hope

Don’t give up hope just yet.  It’s the last thing to go.  When you have lost hope, you have lost everything.  And when you think all is lost, when all is dire and bleak, there is always hope.
